Born in 1947 near Ballyclare in Northern Ireland, Manson developed a passion for art early on in life. In 1965 the young Blair began a career as a teacher, first in Larne and later in Ballyclare where he taught right up until 2004. Alongside his primary school teaching, Blair has also taught art to adults in the local college since 1980.

He is a popular and sought after artist and teacher in his local community, often exhibiting his work and holding classes and demonstrations for local art enthusiasts and societies.

With a particular love for the Irish coastline, mountain ranges and lakes, Blair began his artistic career in earnest in the early 1970’s. His work has been influenced by great landscape artists such as Frank McKelvey and J H Craig while his own unique style has been added. He has a particular affinity with the west of Ireland, often visiting Counties Galway, Donegal and Mayo to seek inspiration for his work.
